Our founder Shri Kulinkant C. Luthia born into a Jain family and a Chartered Accountant & Tax Consultant by Profession gave up his practice & dedicated his life for the cause of Humanitarian Service. An eminent Social worker for past 25 years and recipient of many Awards, he set up Manav Jyot at Mumbai in 1989 for the benefit of common people.
Shri Kulinkant Champsi Luthia believes in leading by example. His role as a social worker has been unique. He has been the God-Sent Bridge between needy persons and those who can help; between poor patients who need crucial but expensive healthcare and NGOs that can help with finance; between patients who need a life saving organ transplant and organ banks that can provide matching organs. He has been a bridge of hope and respite from despair. Shri K. C. Luthia has also been the bridge of love bringing together lonely, disabled people into the holy union of matrimony. His like is an inspiration and his work, a truly noble journey where everyone he interacts with gains in a profound way.
Shri K. C. Luthia has dedicated his life to social work ever since he can remember. He founded the Manav Jyot a Public Charitable Trust which recently completed 24years.
He has published some of the most useful and essential books of our time, which include; The Guide to Social Work, Mumbai and the Guide to Social Work, Gujarat. These books contain information about more than 3000 institutions with their names and updated contact details.
He also organizes match making programmes for the handicapped who are introduced to each other for matrimonial purposes.
He has also published a list of Trusts, Donor institutions who come forward with financial help for needy patients who require life saving surgeries for Heart, Kidney, Cancer, etc. As many as 25000 copies of the list have been distributed among needy patients.
This list is provided to needy patients along with a recommendatory letter that helps them in getting financial help from various Trusts in order to meet the high cost of major surgeries. So far about 25000 patients have been able to go for such major surgeries following his Recommendatory letter.
For patients and their attendant relatives who come to Mumbai for major surgeries, Shri Luthia also provides guidance on suitable staying facilities in the city.
He has helped a large number of kidney patients undergoing dialysis.
He has also initiated a Computerised Seva Centre that gives much needed guidance to people with different social problems.
He is regarded a guiding force in a number of Socio-Medical Projects for which he has been instrumental in sourcing large donations even amounting to Rs. 6.0 crores.
He has been actively associated with innumerable instances of Blood Donation, Eye Donation, Organ Donation, Skin Donations and Body Donations.
He is a very active trustee of the Eye Bank Co-ordination and Research Centre, Parel, which has a large set-up worth Rs. 1.0 crore which co-ordinates 25 eye ball / Cornea collection centres in Mumbai.
He has done pioneering work by establishing an institution for the visually handicapped at Surendranagar, where as many as 175 blind girls in the age group of 5 to 25 years are rehabilitated.
At Vadodara, he is actively associated with the rehabilitation work of Leprosy patients and mentally disabled persons.
He runs 10 Ambulances and 10 dead body trolleys services in Mumbai.
He runs the medical centre of Manav Jyot under the name of Shri Lakhamshi Ghelabhai Medical and Relief centre at Mumbai.

He has been honored several times by various NGOs, public/private organization, community centres, etc. He has received more than 50 trophies, plaques, certificates of appreciation, etc. that are displayed in his office of Manav Jyot at Mulund.
Over the years he has touched the life of thousands; has covered nearly all major areas of Social service. His Life is dedicated to one cause & one cause only Service to Mankind as is his Motto Service on to Humanity is Service on to God.
A very simple and modest man, Shri K. C. Luthia believes he is only doing his duty through all these endeavors, perhaps, his is a duty ordained by some divine power.
