Rural Camps

The government health system in rural areas is unable to cope with the actual requirement, due to which common people from rural areas are not able to access basic health facilities.

Also, there is very little awareness amongst them to avail the basic health checkups regularly so as to avoid major illness. Resorting to home remedies or falling prey to unscrupulous quacks is the order of the day.

In order to uplift the general health of the rural people and create proper awareness on the medical treatment available today Manav Jyot conducts not only OPDs but also Health Check up & awareness medical camps at regular intervals. Many of these camps are conducted jointly with help of like-minded NGOs & associates. The patients receive health check-ups from qualified Medical Doctors.

At each camp a team comprising of Doctors & Medical technicians from various departments depending on the feedback gathered from a particular area accompanies the volunteers team from Manav Jyot. Normally the medical team consists of following doctors like:

  • General Physicians
  • Ophthalmologist
  • ENT
  • Gynecologist
  • Cardiologist
  • Pediatrician
  • Oncologist
  • Dermatologist
  • Dentist
  • Surgeon
  • Pathologist
  • ECG Technicians

At all such camps Manav Jyot volunteers supervise and in case of any critical illness proper guidance and counseling is given to the patient and their family members. In many cases assistance for medical treatment is also provided for.

The success of such camp is very high and can be gauged by the sheer number of persons who avail this Check up. Normally on an average about 250 -300 people attend such camps. Sometimes in some of the more remote areas the numbers cross even 500.

Another facility being provided by Manav Jyot is Vision care. Out of the patients undergoing Eye Checkup the persons having Cataract are provided Free Micro Surgery at any of the reputed Kolkata based Eye hospital at specific dates subsequent to the camp. Arrangements for bringing the patients to the Eye hospital for cataract surgery; returning them home after surgery and again Post Surgery Eye Check up are all managed by Manav Jyot team. And the patients with vision defects are given spectacles free of cost.

At all such camps an awareness drive is also conducted and all are advised to observe better hygiene; change their food habits; avoid consumption of liquor, smoking and other similar bad habits. They are educated in the virtues of having regular health check-ups; drinking of safe boiled water and maintaining nutritious good healthy diet.

Our aim in conducting such camps is to reach out and provide good quality Health care services to as many people in the rural areas as possible. Manav Jyot aspires to serve the maximum number of people it can and in the best way it can.
